A Linebacker's Diary
Chapter Two: A Boyfriend
After
Brad kissed me I had a stunned look on my face, but
it slowly morphed into a smile and a feeling of warmth
and happiness. "I love you too," I replied
as I turned towards him and put my head on his chest.
I whispered to him, "we're a lot more than just
teammates."
Brad laughed and said, "Mike, will you be my."
"Boyfriend?" I said, "of course."
I felt so good that day. I ended up calling my parents
and telling them that I was gonna sleep over at a
friends house (the football team often had parties
and such so it was not an unusual request). We spent
the rest of the evening talking about everything we
could think of. At about 10:00 I started to get ready
for bed.
Brad came in and said to me "Hey Mike if you
wanna take a shower it's right down that hallway,"
as he pointed in the direction of the bathroom.
"Thanks," I said and started to undress.
I grabbed a towel from a rack on the wall and walked
into the bathroom. I started running the water for
the shower, and I heard the bathroom door open. There
was Brad standing beautifully naked in front of me.
"Let me guess," I said, "you're gonna
take a shower too?"
"Yup," Mike said, "and I plan to go
it with you!" We both laughed and got into the
shower. The water felt so good and the warmth of Brad's
body behind me felt better than anything I had ever
felt before. Brad took some soap and rubbed my back,
he then worked his way around me and made me feel
so relaxed I felt like falling asleep! He leaned his
head over my shoulder and I turned around and massaged
him also. We then both walked into his room. We put
on boxers and went to bed. Cuddling with him that
night was wonderful, and we fell asleep in each other's
arms-not the typical way you imagine two football
players.
That
morning Brad's alarm clock buzzed and we both woke
up. I reset the alarm and sat up in bed. Brad, looked
at me and said kinda worriedly, "Mike.what are
the guys gonna think?"
"Eh.I'm not worried about it," I said, "remember,
they don't call me killer for nothing!" I smiled
and said, "Besides, what's more important is
that we have each other."
"Awwww," he said in a sweet voice. I kissed
him.
"C'mon Brad, we'll be late for practice."
The bus ride to school felt instantaneous. Unfortunately,
nothing is ever perfect. After practice the asshole
of the team Nick Schlesgiger made a really derogatory
comment about gays. Brad, let it get to him.
"And what's wrong with gays?" Brad said.
"Well you know.their gay," this was Nick's
typical logic.or lack thereof.
"So," Brad said, "I don't see your
point." At this point it became rather obvious
by the look on Brad's face.
"Well you wouldn't, being a queer and all!"
Nick really shouldn't have said that because just
as he finished his sentence Brad's muscular throwing
arm was quickly propelling his fist into Nick's face.
There was a loud wet crack that echoed through the
locker room. Nick's buddy, Frank, fought back at Brad,
punching him in the ribs. I jumped up and the rest
of the team gathered around Frank, Nick and Mike.
"What the hell you do that for Mike?" Said
one of the players. This whole situation started to
get on my nerves.
"Ok. Everyone just shut the fuck up and back
off!" I shouted. They all turned around shocked.
I luckily had the advantage of everyone knowing my
personality and how aggressive I could be; I knew
they wouldn't try any shit.
"What's going on here Mike are y." He stopped
the instant I looked at him.
"Listen guys," I said in a serious tone
(they knew I wasn't joking around) "Brad is my
boyfriend." There was silence. I turned around
and walked back to my locker. All the guys slowly
backed away from Mike and left him alone. He came
and sat down next to me.
"Thanks man," he said, "though I could
have taken them on."
"Brad," I replied, "don't make trouble
for yourself." He looked at me and put his head
down on my shoulder. "I didn't care what the
other guys thought of me, they just better not fuck
around with you.that pisses me off." I said that
rather loudly, as the guy who confronted Brad came
over and apologized. We were supposed to have practice
again after school, but it turned into more of a team-bonding
session, which really surprised me. All the guys on
the team respected our decisions and were really cool
with us being boyfriends.though they did all express
that we can't let our relationships get in the way
of the game (typical jock mentality). I think we could
live with that.
